Quick and EASY Baby Blankets

My sister Whitney came up with an idea for a baby blanket a few years back.  She loves to just take a piece of cute fabric, pair it with minky and then quilt it together.  No batting or anything in between.  Its the perfect weight and size to bundle a newborn.  It took me awhile to get use to the idea of quilting something without batting.  The quilt doesn't always lay perfectly flat once its quilted, but it does have a good weight to it.  Here is one of my latest creations using this method.

Fabric is Wonderland by MoMo - its Moda of course.

Another baby blanket project I recently worked on was one made by Moda's presewn patchwork fabric.  I LOVE this fabric.  I try to buy a yard or two everytime I see it.  Its fabric squares already sewn together, so the work is done for you.  I've added borders to the fabric in the past, but I also just like to pair it with minky and quilt it.  Makes a great throw or little baby quilt.  This one is done, just needs to be bound.

Fabric is Aviary by 3 Sisters of Moda

One last baby blanket I want to start.  My son Jake is obsessed with robots.  I found this fabric.  Trying to think of something cute to do with it.  Any ideas?

                                Take me to your leader.....

abby, those are so so cute. i don't know about 'quick and easy' but definitely darling. of course i love the moda materials. that polka dot is a new favorite; cute for boys or girls! i just tucked benji in for a nap with your quilt; he always has two on hand and his little minky goes with us everywhere. you need to patent this! it's such a genius idea. and the quilt with blocks already sewn is awesome.

maybe you could make a li'l robot pillow or i've seen big pillows in shapes of letters, you could do a giant J. or maybe a cute fabric covered bulletin board.
