When I wrote the title of this post I could totally hear Seth Myers saying Weekend Updates on SNL...
Very full and fun weekend...here are some highlights.
- Made forts w/ the kids
- Cleaned the house w/the kids (trying to make them responsible)
- Quilted 5 quilts (ALL T-SHIRT QUILTS ARE DONE!!!)
- Completed a Swoon block
- Completed a BOM block
- Tending my cute nephew
- Instagram (Follow me http://instagram.com/alatimer)
- Went to a $1 movie (Twilight - I think I'm going to have to dedicate a post to this one)
- Sam stayed with a babysitter and didn't cry once (this is monumental)
- Cleaned house (again)
- Ate a lot - (note to self - start diet tomorrow)
Overall - it was a fun family weekend. Staying home tomorrow to celebrate this cute girls birthday with a little luncheon with the girls.
The boys and I might even get another fort built... stay tuned.

A Year in Review
Tonight I took a bath - I don't think I've taken a bath this year. Its amazing what a long soak in the tub can do for the soul.
While I was soaking with a nice face mask on - it was almost silent (except for the faint sound of Jake humming the Darth Vader antheim). I had time to reflect on my year. Here are a few highlights.
- Jake started skiing
- Sam potty trained
- Feel in love with Pinterest
- Family Ski Trips
- Disneyland and Newport
- Sewing Retreat
- Baby Wren
- Family Movie @ a theater!
- First camping trip
- Lost a few pounds
- My picture wall (I've even added pictures!)
- Remembering what is important in life
- Lego palooza hit the Latimer household
- A leap of faith
- Quilting and more quilting
- Gained back a few pounds - plus a few more
- Friday Night Lights
- Birthdays and parties and moments with family.
- Quilts, quilts, and more quilts
It has been a good year - and I'm looking forward to what 2013 has to offer!
Hope you all had a wonderful holiday and a Happy New Year!

Some Updates
I have neglected this blog horribly the last few weeks. Very little sewing has been going on - and safe to say very little cooking has been going on.
We celebrated our 11 year anniversary at the end of February. And my birthday the following week. Mike and I headed to Park City to hit the slopes and ended up checking into our hotel room and taking a nap! The joys of peace and quiet without kids. My parents brought our kids up that evening and my mom stayed there with us for a few days. We spent the next 2 days skiing and eating and resting together. It was dreamy. I loved skiing and loved watching Jake ski even more. Trying to figure out how to get pictures off my video camera so I can post my cute little guy.
We spent every night warming up in the hot tub which Sam loved. I felt kind of bad that Park City wasn't as much fun for him so I've been trying to make it up to him.
We have gone bowling, which Sam loved and ate pizza along with taking taking them to Toy Story on Ice last weekend. Sammy loved seeing Buzz and Woody. He is so into Toy Story right now that it was fun to see him get all excited. We have a trip planned to Disney in a few months and I am so excited to see him there. Its fun with the kids get into characters and rides.
I have been quilting for a few others so I have next to nothing to show! I did finish all my blocks for my schnibbles of the month - and again I had issues. I think I'm mentally challenaged when it comes to little blocks. Instead of putting them all together for one little quilt - I used each strip to make a table runner and now have 3! Hoping to get them quilted soon.
My goal this week - eating healthy - quilting a few more client quilts and to sew something for me. Its been crazy busy at work, so I need some fun time!

Happy New Year
Sure hope everyone had a lovely Christmas and is ringing in the New Year. We had a wonderful time with both of our families. The kids loved their new toys, and I have been lazy most of the week. Worked a little more than I wanted, didn't clean nearly as much as is needed - but it has been nice to be at home this last week.
Mike and I took our first little getaway together this weekend. Can you believe we have never left the kids together before? I've gone on a trip or he's gone out of town - but we've never gone together. We ran up the mountain to Park City for some alone time and I took my first skiing lesson. Can you believe I've lived in Utah all my life and never skied before? It was fun. I'm still sore 3 days later - but it was fun. I hope to make this a family affair and start going often. I can't explain how beautiful the mountain is later at night, when its almost empty. Going up the lift looking at the mountain - I wish I had a picture cause it took my breath away.... or that could have been from the boots I was wearing the the way my legs were shaking.... but it was a fun time either way.
I'm excited for 2012 and what is has to bring. Tonight we went to dinner and I watched the kids race back to the car. I think this is going to be a fun year for our little family. The kids are FINALLY playing together. Sam has turned into a little person instead of a baby. We can get out of the house and go places and he behaves himself (most of the time). My goal for 2012 - to sit in a movie theater with both my kids and watch the whole movie.... we'll see how that goes.
I was reading my posts from last January - the goals that were set and not kept. I would say I did sew a little more then the previous year so that was good. Eating and working out went out the door in January... I'm so fat right now I don't want to leave my house! Clearly that needs to be priority #1 on my list this year. Starting tomorrow - work outs will start - healthy dinners will be made - less eating out - no coke - YOU HEARD ME - NO COKE! I've been cheating on coke with another man - Red Bull - so I'm going to allow myself a Red Bull now and then - but I'm done with the coke. We have a tripped planned in April and I plan to allow myself to be seen in public in a bathing suit - so I've got to get my butt in gear!
I've got my Jillian Michaels DVDs ready to go, a new nano with some great play lists, the couch to 5k in mind - and I'm going for it. Stay tuned to see a healthier me this year. That is my only goal - I'm not even going to give myself a number I want to get to weight wise. I just want to be healthier - like what I see in the mirror cause I've been very down on myself lately and would like to change that.
The other few things I'd like to do more of this year - finish a few quilts - which I think after doing 5 in 2 weeks I can prove I can get things done. I have tons of kits and have been working to buy backs when I feel the need to buy fabric. So I should have plenty to keep me busy this year!
The other goal is to find us a babysitter and try to go out more. Mike and I have definetly let this part of our lives slide away since having kids and I think its important to bring it back. At least once a month we are going to have a date night.
I've also implemented a new weekly night schedule - here's how I see it playing out. Obviously if we sign Jake up for anymore activities my life will be overtaken by karate or baseball or soccer - but in the meantime this is how its going to work:
Sunday night - hang out
Monday night - Family night - focus on the kids, playing games, reading, an occasional movie night etc
Tuesday night - Abby night - I get to disappear downstairs and not do a thing once Mike gets home
Wednesday night - hang out
Thursday night - Mike's night - to do whatever he wants while I take care of the kids
Friday night - Family night - go out, stay in, but do something fun together
Saturday - Date night or hang out doing whatever
I think by having specific nights set aside for family time - and nights off for both Mike and I we will be a happier family. Its something I've been thinking about for awhile now and feel its important to focus on.
Anything else???? This is a random post. I'm excited for 2012 and all that it brings. Hope you all had a wonderful holiday season and are ready to dig in to the new year!

This Week
- I spring cleaned my house (a few months/years late)
- had dance parties with the kids
- played with my nephews
- spent the day with my sister
- threw a shower
- finished a quilt
- had 2 family parties
- swam in the pool
If only work wasn't a factor, it would be a perfect week!

Around the Corner
There are a few upcoming events in the next few months that I am so excited for. I love having things to look forward to. This Friday I will be taking my first sewing class from none other than Miss Rosie herself. (OK Miss Rosie, is technically a dog - I'll be taking the class from Carrie of Miss Rosie's quilts). I am so excited a) to get away from work, and kids, and all distractions and just SEW for almost 2 solid days and b) to take a class from Carrie. I have heard she is so bright, and funny, and one of the greatest teachers out there.
I'm a little nervous to get going on the first class which is Route 44. I hear there is a ton of sewing, little tiny 4 patches. And things are set with triangles, which I'm not great at. Hopefully Carrie will have some tips for me.
I'm also taking a Mystery Schnibbles class - I'm still debating on fabrics but I'm leaning towards the new 3 Sisters line Oasis. I just have to find a background fabric now. I am just thrilled to be heading out with my good friend Ann to spend some quality time sewing!!!!
Also around the corner is our 5th and final Disney trip. We bought season passes last April and have been taking full advantage. We are heading to Orlando one more time before they expire in a month or two. I cannot wait for some sun and warmth. We have gotten a quick glimpse of the sun here the last few days, and its warmed up a bit, but oh its still so cold. I actually don't even care if we get to DisneyWorld. I just want to lay and be "one with the sun" for 10 days!!!
Before we head to Orlando, we are taking quick weekend trip to see my in laws next month. They are a few hours away - and hopefully a few degrees warmer. It will be fun for us to see them. Jake asked the other day if we could jump in the car and head to St. George. Sadly it isn't that quick of a trip.
Next week Jake starts a pre PreSchool class. I can't believe I'll be dropping off my little guy and leaving him without me. I can't believe how quickly these kids are growing! My baby is going to school! It will be interesting to see how he does. (More interesting to see how I do!) We are also looking to sign him up for T-Ball, Soccer, and Golf in the next few months (not all at one time). I have to say signing Jake up for sports is something I have been looking forward to for a long time! I feel like I lived half my life on a baseball field watching my brothers play. I am so excited to get Jake into some fun team sports.
SPRING is just around the corner! I don't know about you, but the second Christmas is over I can't wait for spring to get here. With warmer weather brings swimsuit season...that may be the only down fall. Got to get more workouts in! I'm still looking forward to it all!
I love the anticipation of what is coming just around the corner!

So TIRED
This picture would be cute if it wasn't so maddening! How does this child get to be up for HOURS in the middle of the night, yet get to fall asleep whenever and where ever he wants?
Its been a crazy few days with Jake's birthday party, boutique business, work - I've had a lot going on. Will post pictures of the boutique as soon as I can steal them from others as I forgot my camera.
I didn't get as much done as I would like but that is life with 2 kids right! We were all thrilled at how the boutique went. We had a great turn out even though the weather turned rainy and cold. We are so grateful to everyone who came up and supported us. The day was fun and we were so excited for each other. I love working with women who are kind and happy with each other. No competition, just kindness and encouragement for all. The Harvest Boutique was a great experience and one I hope we continue for years to come.
For now, I'm off to work - got a few quilts to get completed this week, and a crazy mad sewing room to clean! I'd love to get a few days worth of continuous sleep also! Hopefully this little guy will get all his teeth in soon and stop waking me up.
