Weekending

Woke up yesterday morning to my 3 boys (Mike, Jake and Sam) all playing the same game on 3 different ipads in bed.  It was a funny sight to see - especially little Sam trying to keep up with the big boys.

We hit up the waffle truck where Whit and Wren met us and then made a quick stop at Orson Gygi.  I had never been before.  Marta had gone the day before and was sending us pictures of all the fun things she was finding, so I had to go see what all the fuss was about.  And it was worth the trip.

Went bowling with the kids - best part of the day was watching Sam jump up and down when he got a strike.  Jake cheering him on every time it was Sam's turn.  It was a fun outing.

Came home and tried out our new popcorn popper and cotton candy maker to make sure they work for the Cousin's Carnival we are having next week.  I'm SO excited about and going way overboard and I'm thrilled to do so.  Can't wait to show you all some of the fun ideas we're coming up with.

On today's to do list - finish a quilt that has been on my machine ALL WEEK LONG! Finish binding a quilt, and get binding made and sewn down on one more client quilt.  I can't wait to have these finished so I can stop feeling guilty that I've had them for so long!

I also need to quilt my own Halloween quilt - I can't have a carnival without a quilt hanging up....

Also on my list is to start this

The pattern is a Schnibbles Lincoln by Miss Rosie.  I have started this project in a French General fabric in the big sized quilt and still have a few star blocks to finish it.  But a Schnibbles sized one in fall?  I DIED when I saw this.  I have to have this done - and I want it on my table come carnival next week.

Got a lot on my plate today - so I better get going....

Weekend To Do's

Last Thursday I made a to do list and left it sitting on my desk.  I'm happy to say I got most of it completed.  Most of my lists I create at work are sewing oriented because that is what I was I was doing when I'm here.

-Finish 12 Days of Christmas blocks - Not only did I finish the blocks, I get them sewn together with the first border

- Sew Car Quilt - I made the cutest little boy quilt. I got it sewn and quilted this weekend.  Just need to get binding.  Picture to come soon.

- Quilt Something - I have a closet full of my own quilts I never get to, so this was my goal for the weekend to quilt something of my own.  I'm happy to say I quilted my car quilt and a table runner I had sewn probably close to 2 years ago!

- Bind ISpy quilt - I finished an ispy quilt top for Jake long before Sam was born.  I finally got the binding sewn on and we actually played a little with it this morning.

- Bind Luke's quilt - one thing I didn't get done on my to do list....(next week)

- Put quilts on Etsy - 2 new quilts were list at the shop head over and take a look.

My goal was to actually get some old projects completed and I'm happy to say I achieved my goal.  I love finishing off something that has been sitting around for a year.  I actually feel like I've accomplished a few things.

We started our weekend off early on Friday by taking the day off.  Mike and I went golfing, to lunch, and then a movie (Inception - that could be a post all on its own, have you seen it?) It was a fun day with just the two of us, and much needed.  Saturday was a lazy day with the kids, and then a late night up sewing til 1am.  Sunday another lazy day.  Whit came over and we swam with the kids and then laid out for a bit while they slept.  I didn't go sew til about 8pm.  I love it when I can spend the days with my family and still have enough energy to get something done at night!  It was a very nice weekend.  Wish all my days were weekend days.

Weekend Wrap Up

Another great weekend.  Spent Friday night quilting and binding a quilt to get it ready for a bridal shower on Saturday.

Met at my cousin Rachel's beautiful house on Saturday morning to celebrate my cousin Shanae's big day.  I think everyone should be able to re-register every 10 years or so for new everything!  So much fun to watch her open her gifts and get marriage advice from everyone.

I was amazed at how so many of us had no idea what to write as advice when the time came to fill out a card.  Seems everyone just feels out what is right and goes with the flow.  I was happy to see I'm not the only one who has no answers!  What I ultimatley wrote was try to always have fun with each other.  Try to date, travel, and keep things fresh.  Young love....so sweet.

Saturday afternoon I hit the movies with my good friend Elizabeth and then I hit the mall.  Decided to do a little shopping for Mike.  WITH HIS BLESSING, it was fun to go and spend some money and pick out outfits for him to wear.  I haven't done that in ages.  And what a money saver, that Sunday he took most of it back!  So I got my fill of shopping and money spending and he got the thrill of getting his money back.

While I was out, I got a call from Jake -- WARNING TOO MUCH INFO ABOUT TO BE SHARED -- "Mom, I pooped in the toliet!  And I want Sparks."  We have told Jake to get him going on the potty training thing that we would get him a toy if he'd poop in the toliet.  So as soon as he did, he called me with the toy he wanted already picked out.  He and Mike had gone through all the Toy Story 3 toys online and he had decided which one he needed me to bring him home.  He was so excited and proud of himself!  So I ran to the store and loaded up on a few items to help us get this journey in Jake's life going.  I had planned to start in a few weeks cause we've got a trip planned, but I guess Jake had other thoughts.  I'm happy to report he's gone a few more times since on his little toliet.  Let's hope it sticks!

Jake went to church with Grandma and Grandpa on Sunday.  He is feeling it out and deciding what the future holds for him.  I feel he is old enough now to make his own decisions and if he wants to go I fully support him.  Joking aside, I think he enjoyed himself.  In the car later that day I could hear him singing "if you're happy and you know it" to himself.  It was very cute.

We spent the afternoon out in the sun swimming!  Jake thinks he's a fish and stays under the water for as long as possible.  Comes up for a breath and goes right back down.  I'm enrolling him in some swimming/survival lessons at the end of the month.  Sam on the other hand can only handle little bouts with the pool.  He did well for about 20 minutes in his floater and then was ready to get out.  I'm happy to report I do think he finally got a little sun on his face.  Its about time that boy got a little color on his WHITE skin!

For dinner we hit the local bowling alley, ate some pizza, played a game, and then hit the arcades.  It was so much fun to see Jake pick up the big bowling ball, run over to the lane and dump it down the ramp.  It amazes me daily how big he is getting.  The conversations we have, the way he runs all over the place like he owns it, the going to the potty on his own.  I've got me a little boy here, not a toddler!  Can't believe my baby isn't a baby anymore!

All in all, we had a fun great weekend.  Even got caught up on Lost  - I know I'm a little behind.  Still have the final hour to watch but we got through about 5 hours this weekend!  My house is a wreck, but we had fun.  And in life isn't having fun and making family memories more important then a clean house?

I woke up this morning wondering how much fun we were going to have today, then realized its Monday...back to the grind.

St George Trip

We went to visit Mike's parents in St George a few weeks ago.  It was so much fun to see them.  And as always so much fun to see our kids with them.  They spoiled us rotten.  Jake and Sam both came home with toys, games, stuffed animals.  I came home with a whole new centerpiece for my table.  (Thanks Sharon!)

We had such a fun relaxing weekend.  Mike and I got out to visit a few homes in the homeshow.  It was so nice to get away and be together.  We had great food and fun!

Thank you so much for the great weekend!
