Halloween Festivities

Jake is so into Halloween this year.  He tells me daily what he wants to be for Halloween (BTW - it changes daily).

For the last year or so I have had him in an activity that he does weekly - swimming lessons, little gym etc.  Instead of sticking him back into Little Gym after his swim lessons ended, I decided to take the month of October and do some fun activities together.

Last Friday we headed to the Zoo.  They were having a Fall Festival for Members Only.  I thought this would be a great day to go.  A fun festival, less crowded, more to see.....BOY was I WRONG!  The Zoo was packed.  Apparently everyone who goes to the Zoo is a member, and they all showed up for the Fall Festival.  We basically went to the Zoo to play on the play ground.  All the lines were too long, didn't see an animal - Sam wanted to be held the whole time...wasn't my best idea.  I don't know why I thought it was a good idea to leave my house with a 2 year old and a 9 month old old my own...

Saturday we decorated the yard with pumpkins and witches and did a little shopping to make some Halloween treats.  A much easier  - low key - activity.

I got some great ideas from The Picky Palate that we will be making this month.  We started with an easy lunch on Sunday of crackers, meat and cheese pumpkins, bats, and moons.

We also made some BOO Berry Muffins....

All in all I think we had a successful, Halloween field weekend!  We will be hitting some other activities in the next weeks.  I'll be sure to take Mike along for help!
