Modern Building Blocks Kit

If you have seen any pictures from Spring Market - you had to have seen this amazing Modern Block quilt - made by the team at Moda.  It uses all Bella Solid fabrics and is amazing!

I am horrible at BOM clubs.  I have several - all the blocks and not one has been completed.  I love the idea, but I never follow through very well.  When I saw this I knew I had to change that.  I love this quilt and love the blocks.  What a fun, different combo from what I'm usually use to.  I love how there are big blocks and small blocks.  I love the solids - and it is a little out of my comfort zone which we all need to do now and then!

So I quickly ordered up some kits.  I don't have many to go around - and I'm sure there will be Quilt Alongs (a few of us have even talked about putting one together) - so if you're at all interested get your quilt while you can!  I heard these babies flew at market!

Picture taken by Nicole Lorenz
I am offering the kit at a discounted price of $135 (retail is $150).  If you are interested - and would like to preorder to ensure you get one - I require a $25 non-refundable deposit.  I send the invoice through my Quick Books program  or Paypal if requested- and the balance must be paid before I ship the kit (obviously).  You can make payments (whatever amount you choose and when) or you can pay the rest in a lump sum.  I have been told they will ship in September - not sure if its beginning or end - but I'll email you and let you know as soon as they are on their way.

Modern Building Blocks Quilt Kit featuring Bella Solids by Moda is boxed and cut by Moda and includes all the fabric needed for the top and binding.

Quilt measures 84 x 96 inches

Patterns for all 47 quilt blocks are included on cards with the kit.

Don't miss out on this amazing quilt and all the fun I'm sure we will have on Instagram with our blocks!
Email me at abby(at)latimerlane(dot)com if you are interested.

Fat Quarter Challenge

I have given myself a challenge.  A Fat Quarter challenge.  I have a few bundles of 25th and Pine.

I love this line - and each year I always wish I had been more on the ball so I could give people a cute Christmas quilt December 1st to welcome in the season.  I'm never on top of my game - until this year!  So I'm taking this bundle of 40 fat quarters - and making multiple quilts to get the best bang for my buck out of this bundle!

Here is my currently line up.

10 Fat Quarters
This quilt has been on my to do list for a long time - so I'm so excited to finally make it!

Next up is the Carpenter Star Quilt Pattern
8 Fat Quarters

I've made this pattern a few times - see here and here and I always love the results.  I thought how fun would a Christmas one be?

Next up is Vintage in the Simply Retro book
18 Fat Quarters

I started this quilt in a fall version and LOVE it - this may be the one I start with because I'm SO excited for it!  Can you just imagine it with the white grunge and Christmas prints!

AND last - but not least - Shine by Sherri McConnell
10 Fat Quarters

This quilt has been on my to do list for awhile - and after quilting one up yesterday I have to make it myself!

This is using a bundle with 40 Fat Quarters - obviously if I do this again with a Solstice bundle I'll have to forgo one of the quilts.  But I'm so excited!!!!  Four quilts per bundle puts a quilt at $26 plus some background and/or border!  Pretty good deal for Christmas!

If you'd like to play along - I am listing my bundles here at a discounted price - just leave me a comment with your email and I'll send over an invoice - or email me abby (at) latimerlane (dot) com and I can get you a bundle.

25th and Pine Bundles - 40 FQB - $105 plus shipping (retail for $136!) 4 available
Solstice - 32 FQB - $95 plus shipping  - 6 available
Holly Wishes - 31 FQB - $92 plus shipping - 1 available
La Fete de Noel - 28 FQB - $86 - 1 available

If you're interested in full kits - bundles with the background yardage and borders let me know and I can give you rates.

Market Quilts - Client Quilts

This last weekend my phone and I were like glue as I couldn't stop staring at all the beautiful pictures from Quilt Market.  So much inspiration!

Do you have favorites you saw?  I'm getting ready to place an order - so let me know if you HAVE TO HAVE something.

Today's client quilt parade will be the quilts I was lucky enough to work on for some of the designers for market.  So much fun to get to see these beautiful fabrics in advance!

First up are a few quilts by Vanessa from Lella Boutique  She has an AWESOME new line coming out called Into the Woods that you're gonna love.  I've shown these quilts before, but wanted to share a few pics.  It was so much fun to see pictures these hanging up in her cute booth!
We used the ever popular Orange Peel on this cute Cartwheel quilt.  I love the pink and red mix fabric she used on the back!

Next up is Snow Blossoms which has on been on my to do list forever!  I finally pulled fabrics this week to get working on mine.

We went with the ever classic Baptist Fan.  Love how this quilt turned out.  I may have to use my own bundle of this line and copy this quilt.

This last quilt from Vanessa is for a layer cake star pattern that was featured during Schoolhouse at Market.  If you google Quilt Market Schoolhouse you will see a few of the designers with these quilts - fun that they all turned out so different!  Vanessa  made a Mini Charm, Charm, AND a Layer Cake version and they are all different!  I'm going to have to keep rewatching to figure out which one I want to make.  I'm thinking a Christmas BIG star is would be just perfect!

I wanted to do something fun and different on this quilt - so sent over some ideas and Vanessa picked this fun bread basket design - its so new I don't have it listed yet!  I will soon.  See how cool it looks on the back!  Thanks Mary for showing me this design!  I'm sure it will be one we are both using a lot!

I was lucky enough to quilt up a few for the Basic Grey girls.
They have this new cute pattern coming out - so new its not on their website yet!  (Amy - send me a link to your pattern so I can update this!)  Its made from their new line Persimmons.  Its got some fun colors and prints in it.  A corally orange, navy, birds, geometrics, florals.  every time I came up to it I found a new print I loved!

The quilting pattern used is called Circles and Lines.  I was a little worried about using this one - I mean it was a new to me pattern.  This is a new line - going to be at Market - in the Moda Designer booth, first time customer! So many reasons not to pick this one!  I played around with 2 other designs and laid them out - and then just went with this one.  I'm SOOOOOO glad I did - I LOVE how it turned out!

I think this pattern is fun and modern - adds great texture without overwhelming the fabrics.  Its a keeper!  And the floral backing was so cute!

Their next quilt is from their pattern Mesmerize pattern redone in Persimmon's fabric.  We went with the Orange Peel for this one.

This pattern is mesmerizing that is for sure!  I loved looking at it to see how the blocks were formed while it was quilting.

What I love about this line is the mix of geometric, leaves, birds, florals - such a fun different mix and goes together so well.

I was also lucky enough to work on the Schoolhouse star for Basic Grey.  Funny thing is - I had quilted Vanessa's and the next day quilted this one - I had NO idea they were the same pattern.  I emailed Vanessa and made mention of the star design and she explained the Schoolhouse idea - and I was like duh!  How did I not see it?  BUT that is what I LOVED about seeing the different designers with their quilts.  They all look so different using the same pattern!

I used another new to me design called Forever Flower and I love how it turned out.  This flower is big and kind of a more modern feel to it.  I'm really loving it.

Let me just tell you about the grunge in this line.  You can't see it here - but there is a taupey feel to it I will be buying BOLTS of this.  Such a great, warm background.  They used it in all 3 quilts and it was amazing to look at!

Last but not least - was this beautiful quilt by Carrie Nelson of Miss Rosie's Quilt Co.  I have to say every time I quilt for Carrie I shake a little during the process.  I mean - she is the QUEEN of QUILTING.  I am honored and pinch myself a little when she sends me a quilt.

This pattern is called Sugarboo and is one of her big quilts she introduced at market.  First off - can't believe how many patterns she has releasing!  I want to make them all!  If you haven't seen them - RUN to her instagram account and take a look.  (Carrieandrosie)

Most of the fabrics in this quilt were from Color Me Happy, but she has some others thrown in too.  I love how she had her cornerstones random every other row - and she threw in a few different blocks with different sashing colors.

I love the little flower that was fussy cut in the center!  Everytime I work on a quilt from Carrie I learn to come out of my box a little when sewing.  Who would have through throwing in a aqua and pink sashing so randomly in the middle of white would turn out so cute?  I don't think I would have a) ever thought of it and b) been brave enough to pull it off!  Which is why she is totally the queen!

She chose Clamshells - which is perfect on most any quilt!  These pictures are horrible - I think it was getting dark?  Or really bright?  haha I can't remember - but they don't do this quilt justice.  It was stunning.  I love the backing fabric she used also.

I am blown away by the inspiration that is out there.  It was so fun to see the new patterns and fabric coming out this year.  I am so grateful I was able to be a small part in this industry I love so much.  Now I just want to take a week off and sew......

Christmas ... already???

Quilt made by Lora Ann

So I've done a few Christmas quilts this week and it started me thinking back to this last Christmas - and next Christmas.

Flurry designed used

Every year I think I'm going to be good and start a quilt or topper or something early and try to get one done every few months.  I'm always scrambling in December to get my projects done - yet I usually have hoards of quilts to quilt for others leaving me limited time!

Dawn made these CUTE CUTE runners!

Glacee used for quilt pattern

This last year - I had a list of 20 things I wanted to do with my kids during the Christmas season - and I got to 2 of them.  All of December was spent quilting and quilting and quilting!  Which don't get me wrong - I love - but this year I need to find a better balance.  I hated the holiday because I was always in a rush, and didn't enjoy much of it at all.

Dawn also made this topper - which I need to make myself!

My point of all this - to help you all - and to help me - (personally and professionally) I've decided to give you a heads up on a special I'll be offering.  You always hear about Christmas in July sales?  Well I'm going to have a Christmas Quilting in July sale.  Christmas patterns are usually more dense and take much longer to quilt out - which is why they are higher up on the price scale of patterns.  In July I will put them all on sale.  On top of that - any quilt in Christmas fabrics even if you don't want a Christmas pattern - will be on sale.  I haven't figured out all the details - but I wanted to give you time to start/finish a project or two so you can take advantage when this sell will happen.  It will be on only for the month of July.  So start sewing!!!!

Holly

Glacee
To help you out even more - I'm getting shipments of Christmas precuts.  I received a few preorder cuts a few months back and they flew out the door - well I just got word my second order of Kate Spain's Solstice shipped!  I will have oodles of precuts at discounted prices waiting for you to take home!  I have some fun ideas for it as well.  I want to start sewing up a storm myself!

Solstice - by Kate Spain

I'm thinking Jelly Filled would be a fun quick project!  Or what about Fresh from Camille's Simply Retro book?  I'm thinking even a smaller version of only 4 blocks.  How cute!  What about Round and Round - did you miss out on that quiltalong? Or what about Sherri's Summer Star quilt in her new book Fresh Family Traditions?  (Stay tuned I'm starting this one!)  I've been wanting to make a Lollipop Christmas quilt....ummmm  I just need to tie myself to my machine and sew and sew and sew!

I know sometimes its hard to get into the swing of Christmas in April or July - but just wanted to start off the year right so we can all enjoy the season a little more.  What better way then some pretty eye candy and a sale to motivate!

Love Glacee quilted on Brenda's Cute quilt

This year I'll be cutting off my "guaranteed for Christmas" deadline earlier than I did last year (I don't think I ever cut anything off last year which was maybe part of the problem!) so I hope you take advantage of the sale!
Doesn't this backing kill you?  Love it!

Start sewing and make sure you share your progress!  I need ideas!

Fabricaholic

If you follow me on Instagram you will have seen these pretty fabrics were delivered last week.

I have had an Etsy store for years where I sold completed quilts and table runners and some of my stash fabric.  But recently I have been in the process of building my store and inventory.  To be honest - I'm not doing this to build the biggest and best store out there.  I will never have 1000's of items for sale.  I am not in this to make a living selling fabric.  I decided to do this so I can get away with buying bolts of fabric and hiding it from my husband!  Why buy 5 yards - when I can have 15 yards?  The whole reason I got into quilting was because I LOVED the fabric.

In the beginning - maybe about 10 years ago - I got into embroider - and I wasn't very good.  My sister was REALLY good and made the cutest projects we started turning into pillows.  I started buying fabric so I could help her make pillows.  When I had too much fabric - and enough pillows to fill a room from top to bottom - I decided I needed to branch out and start making something bigger then a pillow that took 4 2 1/2 inch stripes.  I was never going to use all my stash this way!  So I bought my first piece of real fabric for a quilt.  It was the 3 Sisters Gingham Rose patchwork cheater fabric.  (Gingham Rose is still one of my ALL TIME FAVORITES - I want to chant reprint to Moda)  I bought fabric for borders - and my friend Ann sewed them on - and I bound it - it was my first efforts in quilting - the binding.  But I LOVED this quilt and I still do.  One of my all time favorites.  I then got serious and bought fat quarters or Paris Flea Market and made my sister a quilt.  All squares - and 2 pink squares - same fabric, touching - didn't notice it until I was done.  Til this day it DRIVES ME CRAZY! But I love that quilt.  It is far from perfect but she loves it, and I loved the feeling of making something so special for the people I loved in my life.  And so my addiction began.  I began buying more and more fabric.  Fat Quarters were my drug of choice at the time.  I started a little 2nd job at Pine Needles.  Each week when I got paid - I took out the stash I had made for myself and cashed my check right back there in the drawer.  Never even left the building.  When we moved into a new house - finished our basement a few years later - I had closets built in my big sewing room - specifically to fit the bins of fabric.  I sometimes wish now I had hangers to hang things on instead of shelves!  But it was all about the fabric.

Which is why I wanted to get into selling fabric.  In my shop you will only see fabric I love.  So I apologize right now if we don't have the same taste in fabric!  I have worked in Corporate America for almost 20 years - and to say I don't love my job is an understatement.  Being about to quilt for people and send pretty packages of fabric - is like a dream job for me that I'm working towards making a full time gig out of.  If I want to love my job - I have to stick with looking and cutting fabric day in and day out that I love!  That being said - I think I have a variety in taste.  Yes I'm currently drooling over anything Bonnie and Camille put out - but I'm OBSESSED with 3 Sisters and I think I always will be!  I have been loving anything Tasha Noel from Riley Blake puts out and I even ordered myself a bundle of Kansas Troubles the other day.  I love bright and cheery "Vintage Modern" looks of today - as well as traditional quilts with the warm colors.  So I hope as I grow my inventory you'll see a variety.

I will be carrying primarily precuts - because to be honest - with a full time job, 2 little ones, a house that rarely gets cleaned, a quilting job, I don't know if I have it in me to cut yardage for hours on end each night.  So precuts are easy - and I love them.  I can't remember the last time I made a big quilt and started with yardage!  But when a line comes in that I REALLY love - you may see yardage in the shop.  April Showers is an example of that - and yardage will be showing up in the next few weeks!  YAY!!!!!  I'll also give you a little hint - that some Far Far Away  - will be showing up in a few months (THE WHOLE LINE).

I hope if you're feeling the need to add some April Showers or this cute Organic Patchwork you'll think of me.

Over the next few months - I'm going to start a Monthly/Weekly special and maybe incorporate backing into quilting specials or something like that.  I know this hobby of ours doesn't come cheap - and I want to find a way to make projects more affordable for everyone.  I love seeing the inspiration on blogs and instagram and I would like to do my part to help keep those projects flowing.  I am blessed to see the quilts flow through my house each day - and I have loved every minute of it!  I hope to keep them coming!

I'm getting a big shipment of Christmas (YES CHRISTMAS ALREADY) precuts in the next week or so - and April Showers Yardage should be shipping soon - so please check back!  In the spirit of Christmas (cause I need to start early if I'm going to get anything done by December) I'm going to have these cute kits for sale when the yardage arrives.  I feel head over hills in love with Bonnie's Cabin Christmas quilt and can't wait to make my own!  If you're interested in a preorder of the kit - let me know.  They should be ready to ship out in mid March if the yardage comes as expected.  I'll keep you posted!

Hope you have a wonderful week - I'll be quilting and have a little Bonnie and Camille parade of quilts to show you soon.  I think I'm swimming in their fabric/patterns this last week!  Makes my job so fun!

Precuts Have Arrived!!!!

You may or may not know - but I've been running a little Etsy shop for about 5 years now.  I sell quilts and runners and stash fabric over the last few years.

I've recently decided to try selling small pickins of yardage and now precuts!

To help me get started - and hopefully push my little shop in the right direction - I put my eggs (and money) into April Showers by Bonnie and Camille for Moda.  If you haven't seen this line yet - you are going to die when you do.  The prints are perfect (as usual) great colors, grey, red, blue, greens and yellow.  I couldn't think of a better line to start my little venture out with!

April Showers isn't due to ship out til March - but Moda offered a Sample Spree sale where we could order a limited amount of precuts - so today is your lucky day!

I've got 1 fat eight bundle, jelly rolls, charms and mini's so jump in and get yours today!  I've got more coming in February - and yardage of this line in March.  Stay tuned for some fun kits to pop up too!

I also have a few precuts of Color Me Happy by Vanessa Christenson.  I have LOVED every single quilt I have seen come out of this line!  Run to her store to get these patterns.  These 3 are on my to do list....

Yardage will be arriving in March for the triangle one - and I can't wait!

Remember this quilt that Sherri made a few months back?  I love this pattern and have wanted to make this quilt ever since I quilted hers (this happens to me a lot lately).  Wouldn't this be perfect out of Color Me Happy?  I'm so excited - I might start cutting it out tonight!

Head on over to the shop if you're interested in any of these precuts.  They are going fast!  If you order today/tomorrow/Saturday - you can still get the in time for Christmas!!!

Happy Shopping!
