Baby Love - Country Girls Version - WIP Wednesday

If you follow me on Instagram you may have seen how obsessed I am with the Baby Love pattern from Camille Roskelley's Simply Retro book.  I love this pattern for so many reasons.  Love a Churn Dash block - its big and fast.  I need a quick project that I can completely to keep me sane - and this quilt can be completed in about an hour.  I love the big center for using a fun print I have a hard time cutting into.  Its the perfect size for a baby quilt and a great baby gift.  You will see MANY more of these in my future - as I've already completed another one - and have a 3rd on cut and ready to sew together.

I'm also a little obsessed with the Country Girls fabric - I'm loving the greens and blues together - but for a girl!  Can't get enough of it!

I LOVE the white blueberry fabric that I used for the background.  At first I was worried it would be too busy - but I thrilled with how it turned out.

I used a baby baby clamshell (maybe 1/2 inch by an inch) which added some great texture!  I love the cute little girls in the center print- and I'm slightly obsessed with the bright green border fabric next to the navy gingham!

I used the green as it was my favorite print for the backing as well.

If you're interested in a kit - take a look in my etsy store here

WIP Wednesdays

So - I said I wasn't making goals for this year - but I have SO MANY quilts I want to get to - I decided I needed to make a list to keep me on track.

My biggest goal for this year is to finish some of the projects I have started.  I've told myself - each month, even if I'm working on a new project - I need to have an UFO out and getting done as well.

Here is a list of UFO's for this year - these are projects I have actually started - as in have completed blocks.
- Route 44
- Swoon
- Christmas Granny Square
- Lincoln
- Vintage
- Round and Round
- Halloween Little Lollies
- HST - Marmalade (LOVING THIS QUILT)
- Scrumptious Squares

On my list of quilts I want to make - I've been looking through my Quilts I Love pinterest page and my goal this year is to get some of these quilts - or types of quilts made.  Starting with an Irish Chain.  I'm loving Irish Chains lately - just debating on a 2 color way or scrappy fun like this one.  I'm leaning this way using Happy Go Lucky....

So my list of new projects
- Irish Chain
- On a Whim (have fabrics out of High Streets)
- Christmas Round and Round (cut - just need to start it)
- April Showers blue/green quilt
- Cotton way - Cabin Christmas
- Plan C - JUST LIKE THIS (I also have it out of 12 days of Christmas and martinque  maybe I'll get them all done together)
- Scrap Jar Star out of my Florence fat quarters
- Jacob's Ladder quilt - something like this
- Button Box - like this one!
- Snow Blossoms  - out of Scrumptious

If you've made it this far down my list thanks!  Here is what I started working on in December.  I had big goals to be done by January - now I'm being a little more realistic and say - by the end of February.

- Saw this on Instagram and had to have my own.  I've got everything cut out and working through my blocks.

- HST in Marmalade - I started these blocks a year ago after taking Camille's first Craftsy class.  During Christmas break - Carrie and Thelma worked their way through a HST quilt which got me motivated to get mine out again.  I am LOVING working on this quilt and am so excited to get it done.  5 blocks down - making more HST and going to try Sherri's method - I'm thinking it will cut down some time in the trimming process for me.

- Route 44 - I took a class from Carrie of the Ms Rosie fame a few years back and I LOVE these blocks - no idea why it got pushed aside .... ok maybe I do - I think I had a 2 month old at the time of the class.  But - I dug it out - and had a few blocks to finish - they are all finished and trimmed and I just need to lay it out!  I've been working on cleaning my sewing room - from the tornado of 2013 and will have plenty of space to start this project back up in the next few days.

- Lincoln - I have 2 of these quilts in the work - one for me and one for a bday present someone ordered in july..... I'm slow - but my goal is to have it finished by the end of February.  Loving the low volume prints from French General.  This is going to be a beautiful, classy looking quilt!    Its twin sized - so I'm figuring out how to enlarge the pattern without ruining its perfection.  I think that is why I've procrastinated - seems like so many more blocks have to be done!

These are my main projects I'm working on - REALLY trying to finish them before starting another one - but I can't make any promises.  I feel like my April Showers fabric is calling my name!  I may need to start on a small project in the meantime so I have it finished by the time yardage arrives.  I'm hoping to have a few kits of a quilt in store for you all!  I'll keep you posted.

Thanks for sticking with my lengthy post!  I think I'm getting my mojo back!

WIP Wednesdays

We have been hit HARD with a horrible flu this last week.  It has lingered and has not been fun.  Felt the weekend was a bit wasted as laid around and watched a lot of TV.

I had purchased and watched the Craftsy class Pre-Cut Piecing Made Simple by Camille Roskelley which is so worth the money.  Great tips and tricks.  New patterns, great ideas.  Very helpful.  One of the patterns is some ideas on half squared triangles - and I feel in love with the look and with the ideas.

So I got a couple of Marmalade charm packs and couple of white charm packs - put Jake to work drawing some lines down the middle (that was a fun exercise) and made about 84 half square triangle blocks.

I spent Friday night trimming them up - and playing with some ideas.

Loving the star look - I think a whole quilt in these would be to die for!

I have been wanting to make a quilt using this block for a long time - so I decided on a couple more and came up with this....

I love how this is turning out!  I can't decide whether to keep going and make it bigger or stick with a baby sized quilt.  I have a few showers coming up - thinking this could be a cute baby quilt.

What do you think?

WIP Wednesdays- Quilting Update

A few picture of what I got done this last weekend.

First up is this cute quilt - the picture does not even come close to doing it justice.  It was so cute. Greys, reds, and navy.  I think this is a great pattern (Atkinson Designs).  All the fabrics were geometric designs.  My client told me to pick the design - so I went with Geometric which is triangles and fit in well with the look and feel.  I want to run out and buy myself all these prints.  It was such a cute quilt.

This next quilt I used Rose Leaves.  My client picked this pattern and I hadn't used it before.

I love getting to use new patterns.  This quilt was so cute.  Love all these squares.  The quilting pattern was a lot cuter quilted out too.  Funny how I don't always love the look when I first see them on paper, but once quilted they look so pretty!

This next quilt I threw together.  I started it about 4 years ago....had 4 rows sewn together.  I pulled it out a few years ago to give as a wedding gift.  They have been married and have their 2nd kid on the way - so that should give you a good time frame of how late I am.  I decided to pull it out a few weeks ago to give as a gift to someone - and missed that deadline too.  SERIOUSLY!

So this weekend I told myself I was getting it sewn and quilted - and I did.  Love how the quilting turned out.  I used Drop of Paisley as the quilting pattern - and loved it.  I have been wanting to try this one for awhile, and I was happy with how it quilted out.  This back was in my stash - and I even pieced my batting from a couple of strip scraps so I feel like this was kind of one of those freeish quilts.  Love those!

Jelly Roll Race Quilt featuring Mama Said Sew

Life has been crazy lately.  Busy at work, busy with quilts, busy at home.  I'm tired and worn out - and feel like I haven't sewn - like really sewn in awhile.

So last week - I pulled out a Mama Said Sew jelly roll - and went for it.  I used this tutorial and tried out the Jelly Roll Race I've heard all about online.

I needed a project I could start and get done.  I wanted to feel like I accomplished something.  I wanted to have a finished product to show for my time.

So I put a quilt on the ole machine and got it a quilting - and sat down and started sewing.

I'm happy to report by the end of the night - I had 2 quilts quilted and 1 quilt top sewn.

This picture was taken outside and just in time before the wind blew it away - it had also been folded up in my bag!  I have since added a black stop border around the top and auditioning border fabrics.  I will keep you posted.  I love how it turned out.

This is a quick and easy quilt to throw together.  People claim you can have a quilt done in 45 minutes - apparently I'm not that fast as mine took longer - but within a few hours it was done.

I love how it turned out and love this line.  I'm thinking a minky back so it can become one of our favorite snuggle quilts!

Lovely Year of Finishes - March Edition

Well - February for me was a bust in the sewing department!  I had wanted to get my swoon quilt sewn and quilted - didn't happen.  I got 1 block done - yes only 1!

I still have never gotten a good picture of this block.  I actually even lost it in the mess of my sewing room for awhile!

I can report that I have cleaned up the room a bit, found my block - and even have 2 more half way done - but the swoon completed quilt will definitely be a few months late.

Instead of feeling like a complete failure yet again this month of March - I have decided that at least I'm on the right track with trying to finish some quilts.

So my goals for March will be more realistic.  With a busy work month and a busy quilting month - I decided on the following goals...

- get caught up on the Blogger Girls BOM - I now have February and March blocks to do
- complete the swoon blocks - if I get these 2 in the works done I only have 2 more to go - I should be able to at least get all the blocks made.

Simple - that is a total 12 blocks for the month of March.  Wish me luck!

February Progress

Instead of making block #2 of the Blogger Girls Block of the Month - I decided first to make another version using a different line.  I have been dying over the one Monique is showing on her blog out of the Double Chocolat line - so I decided to make me a version.  I love how these are looking!  Still hoping to get block #2 done out of both lines this month.

I also made a little progress on my Swoon blocks (block) which is my goal for the month of February for Lovely Year of Finishes.  I now can't even find this block!  So this is a picture I took for Instagram.

I used the solid grey and blue for this block - which I love and it doesn't have red in it!  I'm hoping to hit the rest of the blocks hard this weekend so I can still get this quilt done this month.

Been doing a lot of quilting these days - 21 quilts in 20 days.  Maybe this month I can average a quilt a day....I only have 1 left right now - so help me out!

WIP Wednesday

Even though I am supposed to be working on my Swoon quilt this month - I started a new quilt - Well block....deciding still on the progress.

I bought this pattern from Thimble Blossoms and have been wanting to start on it.  Debating which charm packs to use.  I found a charm pack of Fig Tree's new yet to be released line Avalon on Etsy and paired the two together!  I love how it is looking.

I'm now deciding if I should add a border and call this a good table topper or if I should keep making blocks and make it a quilt.

I'm putting it down for a week or so to get some Swoon blocks done - so I'll keep you posted on my decision!

This is a fun pattern to put together and goes fairly fast.  Love the blues in this line!  Wouldn't this be fun with a cute navy border?  UMMMM - maybe a quilt....

500th Post - and a Giveaway!

Whaoo!  This is my 500th post!  I remember the day I started blogging.  I questioned my decision over and over again to jump into the blogging world.  I remember writing the post and holding onto it for a week or two before I posted it.

The fine line of wanting to capture memories and important moments with my kids - yet a little anxious about putting my kids out there on the internet for all to see.  The balancing act of hobby vs family blog.  Who knew I had so much to say and show over the last 5 years!

I appreciate so much the kind words and sweet comments I have gotten over the years.  The words of advise on hard days.  The cheering my family on during our new adventures.  The support and compliments on my little projects.  And especially the encouragement in starting my new business.  I appreciate each and every comment I receive and page view I get.  I know our time is precious and I am so grateful that people my be interested in what goes on in my little world.

To honor all that and celebrate my 500th post - I thought it would be fun to host a little giveaway.  This is my first giveaway, so I'm pretty excited!

I went back and forth on what to offer.  Fabric because I love it so much?  A pattern that is on my to do list?  A finished something?  Which is what I ended up with.  I chose a table runner.  And not just a table runner, but one of my favorites.

I made a couple of the runners when I was trying to complete a Schnibbles  project and decided I was Schnibbles impaired.  But what came out of my mistakes was a couple of my favorite runners ever!  I love these pastel colors from the Martinique line by 3 Sisters.  Especially right now - they bring a springy feel into the house which is so needed with the cold out!

I also love the backing on this runner - flip the runner for a different look.  Aqua and red is so in right now I love it!

And stars - you all should know about my love affair with stars....so this runner has it all for me!

I love runners for several reasons - I can use up scraps from my quilting projects, I can get them done in an hour and feel like I've accomplished something.  I love the pop of color they add to areas in my house.  And I love that I can change them out monthly if I like.

I use them on my dining table, entry table, coffee table, island, dresser - they can go everywhere.  I even throw them over a chair now and then to add some color into my family room.

So...the giveaway part - EASY - leave me a comment telling me what your favorite project/hobby is.  Doesn't have to be sewing related - anything you want - I want to get to know you and what you like to do most in life!

I'll chose a winner next Monday the 11th and announce it here.  Please make sure you aren't a no reply email so I can contact you via email if you win.

Good luck - and thank you so much for stopping by.

February Goals - Lovely Year of Finishes

I have a new found love for the 1st of each month.
I receive my Anne Bright Club designs at 12:01am and stay up to see them.
The new block pattern for the Open Gates BOM is put up.
And I get to pick a new UFO for as part of A Lovely Year of Finishes

Remember my Swoon quilt?  I started it back in August - of 2011...

I have decided to make this Swoon quilt my February finish!  I have 4 blocks done - and 5 to go.  My goal is to complete the quilt - as in sewn, quilted, bound.

I love this block, love the quilt, love the fabric - its bright and springy and I want it hanging on my quilt rack by March - game on!

I have a few more finished quilts to show you in the next week, some new quilting designs and client quilts, and my 500 blog post - I think I need to have a giveaway!  Stay tuned.

Valentine Heart - WIP Wednesdays

I've been working on this quilt for a week or two now.  I think this one is my new favorite of the few I've made.  I love the bright reds and white whites.

I finally got it quilted this last weekend.  I had bought a heart texture pattern.  I haven't used many textures and didn't know exactly what to expect.  To get the texture teeny tiny - this quilt took awhile to quilt up.  But I really am happy with the results.

The white background is filled with a baby heart texture and all the blocks have a little box inside them.

I used a little heart border in the stop border.  I'm really pleased with how it turned out and I'm excited to get this one bound quickly!  Hopefully before the end of the week.

WIP Wednesdays

This weekend I made a goal that I wanted to get my North Star quilt done. I'm happy to report I turned this quilt of blocks into this completed quilt top!

I put the kids to be on Saturday night and decided I was going to finish the blocks and the quilt top no matter how late it got.  Around 1:30am - I had it all done.  I knew I had lots to accomplish on Sunday so I wanted a completed top to show for my weekend work at least.

Sunday morning I woke up to 16 loads of wash that needed to get done, a messy house, sick kids - I was so happy I had completed the top the night before.  Again, at least I could feel like I got something accomplished over the weekend.

After about 2 hours of cleaning, I took a little break on Sunday to sew the backing fabric together so I could work on getting it quilted this week.

One thing lead to another and....

and I got the whole quilt quilted on Sunday.  (Yet still have a messy house and 15 loads of laundry)

I really love how it turned out.  I got a new pattern in the quilting club my parents gave me for Christmas and it came just in time for me to try a new design out.  It is an Anne Bright design called Floral Wave.  I felt like it was the perfect design for a quilt out of flowers and paisley fabric.

The backing fabric was my favorite print in the line.  I love this print in every color!  Now I just need to get the binding on and sewn down before the end of the month.

WIP Wednesdays

With having a few days off over the holiday I got this little project done.

The quilt top has been done for a year or so - Its a 3 Sisters line can't remember which one.  The middle section is one of those presewn patchwork pieces which I love.  I added the borders and had a cute little quilt.

I used the quilt pattern called 30's Flower in the middle section - and a feather pattern in the border.  I am loving how this quilt turned out.

And the back - my new favorite part of getting a quilt off the machine.  The fabric is a pink on pink with writing on it - love, hope etc etc - hard to see, but really does it matter?  Look at the quilting!

I love how this quilt turned out.  Can't wait to get the binding on and get it done.  I had made this quilt to sell, but don't think I can part with it now!

WIP Wednesday - Baseball Scraps

Earlier this year I made a couple of turning twenty baseball quilts - seen here and here - in an attempt to clear out my scraps I used the last few pieces to make this baby quilt.

I love the fun baseball prints and plaids thrown in.

I even used scraps I had for the back - 3 big pieces.  and bound the quilt in a chambray color for the binding.  The great all American quilt!  I finally got it bound on my business trip a few weeks ago.

I've also been quilting for a few new clients.  This quilt was civil war prints.  Her friend she is gifting it to loves to sew, so she picked the spools of thread pattern.

She had a minky back
 I.LOVE.HOW.QUILTING.LOOKS.ON.MINKY
Isn't this a fun pattern?

I'm currently working on a custom quilt and I'm really enjoying the process.  I'll be back soon with some pictures to share.

WIP Wednesday

Do you feel like the weeks are flying by lately?  I have all these big plans and have lists of things to get done - and a week goes by and I haven't quilted or sewn.

I had to travel for business last week - and then came home to 2 full days of Statler classes.  I learned so much and was so excited to come home and practice.... instead I spent some quality time with the kids and we even had a little weekend getaway.  Celebrated Sam's birthday - twice - and now almost 2 weeks later I'm finally down here quilting again!

My goals were to get a quilt quilted (I'm quilting snowflakes and can't wait to show you all!) and get a couple of bindings on some quilts.  On my trip I got 3 quilts bound!  YEAAAA finished quilts!  Just got to take some pictures.

But - I did want to share the last few quilts I quilted before leaving on my trip.  I am LOVING this pattern.  It is called Spiral Squares and is a great pattern especially for the men in your life.  This was such a fun quilt and fabrics!

This other one was a sweet little baby quilt and the quilt pattern fit the fabric perfectly.  I love how the quilting looks on the minky back.

I'm having fun with this machine and each quilt is teaching me something new.

If you have some last minute Christmas quilts and your quilter is full - please remember I am offering all my edge to edge patterns for $.01 an inch and currently have a 72 hour turn around time.  So get your quilts in now before the time increases!

WIP Wednesday

I have obviously been quilting more then sewing lately.  I love seeing how these patterns look on the quilts - but I love that my closet full of quilt tops is being done!

I'm on a business trip this week and brought a few to bind - so hopefully I can start showing some completed projects in the next few weeks!

This edge to edge pattern is pattern is called flight of fancy and has flowery feel to it.

The quilt pattern is Patchwork Chevron from the Moda Bake Shop.  My friend Ann and I made these quilts when we did our weekend sewing retreat in April.  I'm so excited to have it done!

I love looking at the back of the quilt now.  This is quilt line is Rouenneries Deux by French General.  The backing is a grey linen look which I love!

This is a fun and whimsical pattern.  Can't wait to get this bound and washed and folded over the couch!

Email me at abby@latimerlane.com if you are interested in getting your quilt done.  I turn it around in less than a week!
