New Patterns - and a $50 Giveaway towards Quilting - WINNER ANNOUNCED

***** Thanks everyone who left me comments and feedback on how to organize my boards.  I really appreciate it!  The winner of the $50 credit towards quilting is Aimee Marshall who said "Oh my goodness, I love them all so it was hard to pick just one! I really love the sea scape though!!"

Congrats Aimee - email me (abby@latimerlane.com) with your information and I'll send you the details!

Thanks everyone for playing along!  *****************

I've had a list of new patterns for the last few months that I've been slow about adding to my pinterest page.

I spent some time getting things updated and I've added over 100 new designs!  I've add all shapes and sizes, from flowers, to feathers, to baby, to modern.  All price ranges too - added a whole bunch to the lower range of $.0125 per inch.  Always looking for fun new patterns that are more affordable for everyone.

Here are a few of my favorite new ones!

Giveaway Day - Runner and Layer Cake

Hi everyone!  Thanks for stopping in.  If you're new here from Sew Mama Sew, Welcome!

I saw giveaways all over blogland and Instagram and wanted to join in on the fun.  For those of you that are new - let me introduce myself.

A am a mom to 2 crazy little boys ages 6 and 4.  They are my whole world.  In an effort to find a way to spend more time with them and quit my day job - I jumped head first into a Long Arm Quilting business last year.  Latimer Lane Quilting.  I would say this last year has been crazy!  Busy, hard, so rewarding, and so inspirational. The problem with being a long arm quilter - I want to make all the quilts that come through my door!

I have been offering a special of $.01 per inch this last year.  Before I owned a machine, it was so hard to find a good quilter at decent prices.  I love this sewing hobby we all enjoy.  But after spending $100+ on fabric for the top - I didn't want to go and do it again for the quilting.  My special is coming to an end with the end of the year - but I will always keep a nice selection of patterns at $.01 an inch - and my overall pricing will still stay low.  My highest prices will be what most start their edge to edge pricing at!

If you're interested - please contact me - if I have you on my schedule before the end of the year - I will still honor the special pricing - even if we don't get to your quilt until January.  Check out all my patterns and information here.

I am also starting to sell fabric on a small scale over at my Etsy store Gracie Lane Quilts.  I sell finished products as well as kits and precuts.  I am adding more over the next few months so please check back.

NOW to the giveaway.  What you all really want me to get to!  I am offering 2 Giveaways.

First up -

This cute little table runner made out of High Streets by Lily Ashbury for Moda.  I love this line - and the grey fabric was my favorite piece hands down.  I love how the orange border makes it pop!  The runner measures 10 x 28 and perfect for just about any area.  Quilted with a simple crosshatch.

Second up -

A layer cake of Aspen Frost by Basic Grey for Moda.  I LOVE this line - and have a few projects in the works using these layer cakes.  This would make a great gift for someone - or give you a head start on next years project (unless you're super fast and can finish something in a week!)

To win - leave me a comment telling me what your favorite precut of fabric is.  Layer Cakes? Jelly Rolls?  Charms?

Will ship to anyone within North America.  Winner will be announced by December 15th.

Thanks Sew Mama Sew for hosting this day - so fun!

We Have a Winner!

Thanks everyone who left a comment for the giveaway.  It was so much fun to read them all - and good to know I'm not alone with my sewing and fabric addictions!  It was so fun to visit the new to me blogs from some of you and I found some great new reads!

The winner of the table runner is Jan who commented -

"I can't believe you have 500 posts. I just discovered quilt blogs a month ago and just stared commenting on them this weekend. My favorite things to do are quilt and read. But my most favorite is spending time with my sisters."

I loved this comment because I love spending time with my sister also!  And what luck that she won a contest the first weekend she started commenting!

Jan - send me your address and I'll ship out the runner to you.

Thanks everyone for making the first 500 posts so rewarding.  Hope you all stick around for the next 500 posts!

Simplicity Quilt Finish

I have got to find a better time to take my pictures.  These were taken at about 2am - so the lighting isn't great.  But I had to show another finished quilt!

This quilt was the presewn fabric squares from the 3 Sisters line Simplicity.  I liked the fabric because it had some of the eyelet pieces in the squares.  I added the green pintuck fabric for a stop border and the pink polka dot for the big border.  I love that polka dot.  LOVE.

Once I got the quilt sewn together, I was kind of out of love with it.  The presewn fabric is hard to get looking square and then I added the pintuck which stretches.  I just felt like it was thrown together and didn't love the way it looked.....until I quilted it.

I fell back in love.  Amazing what a little quilting can to to spruce up a quilt.  I used the 30's Flower quilt pattern in the middle, loops in the stop border, and a fancy feather in the big border.  I love how it turned out!

The binding was a green and pink stripe from an older 3 Sisters line and matched perfectly.  Now I just need to have a little girl to give this quilt to!  JK - that ain't going to happen!

***Reminder -  still time to enter the giveaway here.  I'm giving away this table runner - giveaway closes Sunday night!

500th Post - and a Giveaway!

Whaoo!  This is my 500th post!  I remember the day I started blogging.  I questioned my decision over and over again to jump into the blogging world.  I remember writing the post and holding onto it for a week or two before I posted it.

The fine line of wanting to capture memories and important moments with my kids - yet a little anxious about putting my kids out there on the internet for all to see.  The balancing act of hobby vs family blog.  Who knew I had so much to say and show over the last 5 years!

I appreciate so much the kind words and sweet comments I have gotten over the years.  The words of advise on hard days.  The cheering my family on during our new adventures.  The support and compliments on my little projects.  And especially the encouragement in starting my new business.  I appreciate each and every comment I receive and page view I get.  I know our time is precious and I am so grateful that people my be interested in what goes on in my little world.

To honor all that and celebrate my 500th post - I thought it would be fun to host a little giveaway.  This is my first giveaway, so I'm pretty excited!

I went back and forth on what to offer.  Fabric because I love it so much?  A pattern that is on my to do list?  A finished something?  Which is what I ended up with.  I chose a table runner.  And not just a table runner, but one of my favorites.

I made a couple of the runners when I was trying to complete a Schnibbles  project and decided I was Schnibbles impaired.  But what came out of my mistakes was a couple of my favorite runners ever!  I love these pastel colors from the Martinique line by 3 Sisters.  Especially right now - they bring a springy feel into the house which is so needed with the cold out!

I also love the backing on this runner - flip the runner for a different look.  Aqua and red is so in right now I love it!

And stars - you all should know about my love affair with stars....so this runner has it all for me!

I love runners for several reasons - I can use up scraps from my quilting projects, I can get them done in an hour and feel like I've accomplished something.  I love the pop of color they add to areas in my house.  And I love that I can change them out monthly if I like.

I use them on my dining table, entry table, coffee table, island, dresser - they can go everywhere.  I even throw them over a chair now and then to add some color into my family room.

So...the giveaway part - EASY - leave me a comment telling me what your favorite project/hobby is.  Doesn't have to be sewing related - anything you want - I want to get to know you and what you like to do most in life!

I'll chose a winner next Monday the 11th and announce it here.  Please make sure you aren't a no reply email so I can contact you via email if you win.

Good luck - and thank you so much for stopping by.
