Five and Dime Quilt - Maison de Noel - FOR SALE

The Masion de Noel line by 3 Sisters is about 6 or so years old.  Hands down one of my most favorite lines of fabric EVER.  I mean EVER.  I have made several quilts from this line - and I still have a bin fun.  See a few of my favorites here.

This pattern is called Five and Dime by All Washed Up.  I love this pattern and have made it a few times see here and here.  I think it is a great way to show case large pieces of fabric.  Which is why I started quilting in the first place - I love the fabric!
It was a gloomy day and very little light - these pictures do not do this quilt justice!  To be honest - I have no idea when I sewed this quilt.  Probably 5 years ago - its been hanging in my closet to be quilted for a long while!

I finally pulled it out to try Denali on it about a year ago.  I love this quilt pattern so much.

For the backing I used the red paisley - one of my favorites - and bound it with a red/green plaid on the bias fabric.  That binding fabric is my most favorite binding I think I've EVER used!  I finally got it bound last week when we drove back and forth to Lake Tahoe.  A nice 8 hour drive each way - left me with a few completed projects!

Here it is on display - and then I decided - I have a few Christmas quilts - so maybe I'll trying sharing the love I have of these fabrics with others.

So I listed it in my shop.  If you're interested go here.

A Perfect Pair

Sadly - I don't even remember when I made this quilt.  I have no memory of sewing it.  I remember seeing my friend Sue's completed quilt and knew I had to make one for myself, but other then that its all a big blur.  I do think it was made pre children era of my life (also a big blur).

The line is Maison De Noel by 3 Sisters and one of my all time favorite lines.  ALL TIME.  I can't get enough of this line and still have a bin full that I'm unwilling to part with.  The pattern used was 5 and Dime by All Washed Up.  This is quick and easy quilt to whip up.  I use it when there are focal fabrics I can't bare to cut up.

I have heard about this quilt pattern Denali by Ann Bright and have been wanting to get it and try it out.  This was the perfect pair.  I love the big swirls in this pattern.  It worked perfectly with the leafy and paisley fabrics in the quilt.  I used a King Tut variegated redish thread which turned out well.  I'm sometimes weary of using darker threads, but like how this turned out.

Here is a closer view of the design.

I am loving my quilting machine - and have never had so many quilts to bind in all my life!  I currently have 4 with the bindings on, waiting for me to hand sewn down, and about 5 more to get bindings on!  Less than a month ago I had a closet full of quilts to be completed, now I'm down to about 3 or 4 only.  So fun to get them all completed!

Maison de Noel

One of my goals for this year is to try and sew for 5 minutes a day. It is my hobby, my release from mothering. The beautiful fabrics make me smile.

I love fabric, looking at it, finding out what is new, buying it (someday I'll post a picture of my stash....you'll DIE). Mike calls it my heroine addiction. It may be an addiction, but its on the healthier side of addictions so that should make it ok, right?

One of my favorite lines came from Moda a few years ago. It was their Christmas line, but doesn't have to be exclusive for Christmas. I of course bought tons and tons of this fabric. I had an idea this year to try and use up the full bin of fabric. So I've been making a few projects out of this beautiful line. Here are a few pictures of what I've done or am working on.

This is my first Maison de Noel quilt. The pattern is Tag Sale by Miss Rosie's quilts. I love this quilt. Its my most favorite quilt I've ever made. I only put it up at Christmas and it makes me so sad to take it down. This quilt called for about 1000 little squares and took me 4 months of working at it to complete it. I think it took me about a week to get it all cut out! By the time I was finished with it I was so over this quilt, but once I got it back from the quilters I fell in love all over again. Its still my favorite after 3 or so years.

I tried to get this one done before the baby came and it just didn't happen. I haven't decided whether to sell this or keep it and have it be a little throw in the same room as the Tag Sale quilt next year for Christmas. I do love the stars!

This is another one I'm working on. Have the blocks completed just need to sew them together and add borders.

I can't believe I've made these 3 quilts, plus a few that were sold on etsy, plus I've sold fat quarters of some of this line and I still have a bin full! I've got one more quilt to start and then I'll have to cut the rest up for pin cushions or something. Funny thing is, even with all these projects I still love this line.

I've also decided to post what I'm working on, and completed items. I've never kept a record of it and when I've seen other peoples blogs and they have this great record of all their finished projects I wish I would have done that from when I started. It may also keep me on track to complete some of my projects! If you love beautiful fabric and pretty quilts as much as I do, come along for the journey as I post my projects of 2010!
