October Review

I can't believe October has already come and gone!  It feels like just yesterday I was putting up all my Halloween decorations!  Now I'm going to have to take them all down!

Last year I started collecting these cute Halloween houses from Department 56.  I got a little obsessed and even had to take a few back because I didn't have room for them all!  I can't believe I already have to take them down!

I finally got my Halloween quilt out and hung.
This is one of my favorites - pattern is Wild Things by Thimble Blossoms.  I think the fabric used was called Monsters or Little Monsters or something like that from Sandy Gervais.

I've also been busy quilting a few quilts!

This fun Ghastly one was done with the all over Spider Web pattern.  I love this pattern - it adds so much texture to the quilt without over powering the fabric.

Love how fun the back looked too!

This next little quilt was fun to do - you can't totally tell from the picture, but I used the Spider web pattern smaller in the borders - stitched 1/4 inch in on the sashing and did the spiderweb pattern bigger in each block.

I thought the backing looked cool too!  This was a cute fun quilt to work on!

This quilt and pattern I have done a few times this month!  I have the cutest group of girls who get together and sew each Wednesday.  They decided they wanted to make this quilt for Halloween.  It was so much fun to see how different these turned out - and I've loved getting to know these girls!
I want to be in their quilt group!

Lisa chose Skulls for her quilt

She always brings me backs with fun minky (or all mink) and the skulls looked so cool on the minky!

This next quilt I did a few months ago - what a fun way to use a jelly roll!  I loved how bright and festive it is!

Kathy chose Candy Corns for this quilt and I think it fit it perfectly!

The back was covered in Candy Corns so kind of fitting

This quilt I have seen at my local quilt store and a cute new client Dana from California shipped it my way!

I love the black between the rows and the cute little monsters.  Perfect for the Sweetwater Halloween line!

Dana chose the Trick O Treat pattern which is so cute quilted up!

A little stippling around the monsters.

And a great polka dot on the back - this dot should be in everyone's stash!

This next quilt was Chantel's from the Wednesday quilt group.  She chose Spider Web for her pattern.

I love how just changing up the pattern took on a whole different look to this quilt from Lisa with the Skulls.

Chantel had a minky backing and looked so cool with the web.

Megan is a new client - and daughter to Dana.  She made this cute quilt up using the same Boo line from Sweetwater as her mom's monster quilt.

She used Candy Corns for her design and black thread - love how it turned out!

The backing fabric was so cute too with the little monsters.  I love this line!

Interrupting the quilts to share a cute/scary pic of my kids at the Cornbelly festival.  We had a great day hanging in the warm sun - playing on slides and big huge trampolines.  I love a good fall festival!

Last but not least is the last quilt from Brenda - again the same quilt pattern and she chose Spider Webs also - but she changed up her backing a little.

Although I love all quilts - I'm a sucker for minky, a sucker for chevrons, and Halloween - and didn't want to give this one back!  The lime green minky backing was to die for!!!!

I had such a fun, busy month - and am a little sad to see it go!

October Updates

The Halloween decorations have been put away.  A few fall/Thanksgiving items have taken their place for the next month.  Needed to wrap up October with a few pictures.  We had such a fun month full of activities and family.

We celebrated Jake's 5th birthday with a little fun at the bowling ally with Grandma and Grandpa Sharon.  Eating pizza, bowling, and playing arcade games.  Such a fun day!  Love the collage Sharon put together of the these pictures.

On Sunday we gave Jake his presents and had a little cake and dinner at Grandma and Grandpa Polly's house.

Sam had to have a turn with the candle blowing

Ken celebrated his birthday last weekend - and of course the kids had to help him with his candles.  Ken is so fun and cute with the kids.  We are lucky to have him around.  He even let Sam draw all over his desk with a marker.  That's how much fun Grandpa is!

Grandma and Grandpa Polly had our first annual Halloween party.

Jake decided that day he wanted to switch up the costumes and go as a vampire. Of course Sam had to change his costume also, but after we went and bought him one, he wouldn't wear it.  Look at cute little Dylan as a lion!

Grandma set up a spook ally in her secret garden.  Jake was brave and sat next to the witch.

We even stumbled upon the cutest Dorothy and her lion.

We even carved some pumpkins.  Sammy was so excited

And on Halloween the kids went out in their real costumes.  Buzz Lightyear and Green Lantern.

It was so much fun to watch the kids run up to the door and yell "trick or treat".  Sam was so into it and loved every minute of it.  The past few years we've just circled our small street, but this year we hit 3 or 4 streets around us.  The kids loved every minute of it.  And what a beautiful night.  It was even warm!

We had a great October and are looking forward to the holidays coming up this month!

Halloween Time

Here in our house, we love everything about this time of year.  The crisp air, pumpkins, leaves changing color, candy corns.  We go big for fall and especially for Halloween.

The house is decked out (now just needs to be cleaned) and I'm working on an October list of fun things to do for fall.  Since September rolled around all I have been thinking about is the different parties we could have.

A donut and wassail party...

A trip to Thanksgiving Point for all their Fall Festivities
Head on up to Park City and see all the leaves changing colors and hit up the Alpine Coaster
Pick pumpkins at a pumpkin patch so I can make my porch look like this...

I don't think there is anything I don't like about fall.  I've been pinning up a Halloween storm of games, food, and ideas for the kids.  Feel free to follow my board.

Halloween - WIP Wednesdays

In our house, we are BIG into Halloween.  The decorations have started popping up earlier and earlier each year - the kids are into costumes and spooky stories.  We try to hit up Disneyland around this time of year - because really what is better than a Mickey's Halloween party?

Back in 2010 I made a Halloween quilt and pillowcase for Jake - (Ok I bought the pillowcase already made).  I also purchased the same fabrics to make Sam one of his own, which never happened back in 2010.

Skip forward 2 years (time flies way to fast!)

This was a Riley Blake Halloween line a few years back.  I thought it was fun with spiderwebs, ghosts, and polka dots.

The backing fabric was cute and whimsically - just perfect for Sam.

Even though the middle squares were sewn together over a year ago - I'm glad I finally got the borders added and it quilted.  I even threw in a little spiderweb in the quilting every few squares. Glad Sam will have his own Halloween quilt this year!

Linking up with WIP Wednesdays!
